I got a sweet surprise when I want to the comic book store yesterday! I had ordered Naughty and Nice: The Good Girl Art of Bruce Timm. It had been solicited in the August Previews for $50. I was surprised because the release date was supposed to be for September 26, 2012, but they shipped it early.
Bruce Timm is widely known as an animator and in comic books, but his big leap into success was when he designed and animated Batman Adventures. He and Paul Dini were the ones behind the creation of Harley Quinn, who I love to pieces. I’ve been lucky enough to have several different pieces including sculptures, maquettes and prints.
Now, I don’t usually spend that much, but I’ve been a big fan of Bruce Timm for years and I have a soft spot for art books. I also told myself it would be a Christmas present to myself, but since it has shown up so early, and on September 6th (a very stressful day for me usually) I decided that I would allow it to just be the gift for the day. Kind of a “Happy You’re Alive” type of gift.
The art inside is beautiful. Most of it is NSFW, but it’s tasteful not crude.
I love Bruce Timm and his style, and Alma and I plan on getting tattoos of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy in his style on us at some point.
If you’re looking for a beautiful art book for a coffee table book or just for yourself, I highly recommend this one!
I want this book desperately.
